Now that I’m “old French soup” my cruisehimers is acting up, I often don’t know what day it is, but I know today?
Today is Tuesday July, 19, 2005. I know this because I’m watching the day’s closely; I actually have to be somewhere. I’m picking up my Charter (Andrea & Peggy) in Porvaneer (San Blas) on the 24th.
I don’t wear a watch any more because the sun’s position is so reliable, it’s very easy to tell the time by looking at the sun, I’m usually accurate within 30 minutes. I can always tell when it’s the weekend because jet ski’s start zipping through the anchorage Friday evening and continue through Sunday. There is a really good pizza place open on Friday through Sunday about 5 miles away. When the Jet Ski’s come it’s time for Pizza, YUMMY!!!!!
AHHHHHHH, the days in my old age are sooooo relaxing, 40 is turning out to be the best year yet. :)
Today I did something Amazing, I made bread. Its good bread and I made it without an oven, on the stove top. I met a nice French couple a few weeks ago (François & Cathleen) and they have made my life fuller. They taught me how to make a really nice spiced rum (I’m going to test it on my Charter Andrea & Peggy), Cathleen showed me where wild cilantro grows, and today she taught me to make bread. François showed me how to pick, and make calabash bowls. They also gave me some taguar. Taguar is a large seed used to make jewelry, it looks and feels like ivory when formed & polished. I’m going to make myself a nice wale-tail necklace with it.
How is it I can be so broke and have such a full life, why didn’t someone tell me this when I was 20? I have less then $800 to my name and not a care in the world, life is truly awesome. I guess the downside of being broke is no full-time girlfriend. François really lucked out with Cathleen. They make beautiful jewelry together and sell it along the way. They live on next to nothing, and are happy as a couple of clams. I’ll take a photo and post it on the site. They have a small 30’ steel boat. They also have a sewing machine and are going to help me make some cockpit cushions when I get back from the San Blas.
If anyone wants to come and see the San Blas I’m available the first week of August. Drop me an email at (adorsey@skyfile.com). I may run some backpackers from Panama to Colombia for some extra $$$. Backpackers cant get from Panama to Columbia by foot so they must fly or sail, most choose to sail.
It’s good to know freedom; I never knew it until I left.
Peace, Love, good Friends, and fresh bread.
