Land and Sea

Exploring Port Antonio

The weather changed a bit and delayed us a day or two. Namaste is ready to go at a moments notice.

Julio & Soledad invited me to go hiking in the mountains, “sounds like a brilliant idea” I replied. We hiked 5 miles up the mountain roads. How spectacular this island is. Mangos, papaya, bananas, coconuts, bread fruit, all for the taking. Sweet water flows from the mountains; this land was made to sustain life.

The locals were friendly and waved from their porches & yards. We met a man making native drums out of wood and goat skin, Julio bought one. It rained on us a number of times, but it was a cool and refreshing change to the thick heat of the day.

I checked the weather on the internet upon my return, tomorrow looks good. We’re all meeting at 08:30 in the office to discuss the weather and crossing to South America.
