I can’t believe I did it. I rebuilt the motor myself. I down-loaded the shop manual from the internet, grabbed a wrench and just started pulling it apart. I met another guy who was rebuilding his Yanmar. It was 11 years younger then my Volvo and when he was scraping some rust off of the exhaust manifold, his screwdriver went through it, I had some surface rust but everything is really solid. I replaced the cylinder sleeves, pistons, rings, valves, and all the gaskets, I also installed a Balmar alternator, with an external regulator. Boy…., what a difference in charging.
I’m shoving off in the morning for Florida. This stop in Charleston really screwed up my schedule. I’m not going to continue down the ICW. I’m going off-shore for about 350 miles for Palm beach. I’m going to meet some subscribers who just got a Westsail 32.
I lost my voice, cant say a word, I think the stress of rebuilding the Motor & bowsprit got to me and I got really sick. I cut a new episode, but cant record the voice-over. I’ll post it from Florida.
