Hi everyone,

We posted episode 6 (Thunder & Lightning) today.

The storms in the south east have been crazy. I’m going to continue exploring & documenting the Chesapeake for a while.

I’ve been through 6 lightening storms in the last 7 weeks. All you can really do is shut down all the electronics and take in the show. It’s kind of fun, but the idea of a strike is not a pleasant one.

I’ll be installing a Wind Generator (AirX marine) next week from South West Wind power ( www.windenergy.com ). It should prove to be a good edition to Namaste’s equipment list. I’ll be researching solar panels as well. If anyone has any experience with solar panels, or wind generators, any comments would be appreciated.

As you all probably know I’m very much into marine conservation. I met an interesting guy who re-powers sailboats with electric motors. These motors are powered by a large battery bank that is charged via a diesel generator. The end result is probably more power that you have with your diesel engine, the electric motor can be run without the generator (No noise), and you have a very large house battery bank (Lot of Amp hours), not to mention a significant decrease in fossil fuel consumption. The other cool thing is the electric motor is much lighter then the diesel and the added weight of the battery bank can be used to better balance your boat. If you’re thinking of re-powering your sailboat you might want to check out www.solomontechnologies.com.

If anyone has a service or business that may be useful to our subscribers (the sailing community), let me know and maybe we can do something on the website.

If you would like to be listed in the Friends & Guests section and would like to make you email available to other subscribers, let me know. You might have a sailboat and need crew, or perhaps you would like to crew, or whatever.

Don’t be strangers, sometimes the only thing to do on the boat is to read & return emails.

I hope you enjoy the latest video.

Sincerely,
Alex Dorsey
