So Carla and I have returned to the San Blas after being away for 10 months.
We have only been here a few days and the decompressing magic of the islands is saturating deep into my soul.
The last 3 days have been filled with the silence of the Caribbean sea crashing against the reef and the subtle song of wind in the rigging. No noise of buses, launchas, jet skis, or blaring local “music” from the shore. Just the sound of the sea and the wind, priceless!
Occasionally a Kuna fisherman visits to sell lobster, octopus, fish, or molas. For the first time in my life I’m here as a married man which strangely brings a further peace to these majestic islands. The brilliance of 1000 shades of blue beneath the water, and the crisp white clouds drifting behind coconut palms make these the best days of my life. How fortunate I am?
Many say “Boat work is never done” and I disagree. Maintenance will be welcome after all my systems, paint, and rigging are in order. Carla will be bringing back Aspen Aerogel SpaceLoft insulation from the states and we will build a refrigerator box with nearly a R-value of 40. Sometimes technology really out does itself and I’m really excited about the insulation. Better insulation
means I need to produce less power. And requiring less power in our lives is something EVERYONE needs to take extremely seriously. Having solar panels that freeze fish is about the coolest damn thing I can think of (no pun intended), and that goes before having a cold beer, or cool glass of water.
An unfortunate turn of events has delayed Carla’s sister from visiting as scheduled. As a result we have time for a charter between two others. If you’re interested to come between the 13th of February and the 18th of March please reveal yourself. I’m willing to cut a really good deal for either a single, or up to a 3 couple charter.
As you know I’ve visited many islands and the San Blas is the closest to pure paradise that I know. We will be leaving soon and you won’t find a better opportunity or deal to have such a beautiful experience.
I still have a few “must have”s (Drifter/ SSB/haul-out) before venturing to the Pacific and the time for us to share this magic is now.
I’m off to do some electrical work before our charter arrives. My depth sounder is out and I need to order another one. I was happy to find them on eBay for under $70 with transducer.
So guys, what will it be, who is coming for a visit?
Peace.
