Splendid recipe #7: the quickest most delicious dessert

As you know, we do not have any stores around to buy sweets so, when we feel like having a treat, we have to make it ourselves. A couple of weeks ago we came up with the idea of making almond brittle. It’s the simplest, quickest, most delicious thing you can prepare. We have offered it to a few friends and visitors now and every single one of them asked me to show them how to make it. Here’s the recipe. You won’t believe how easy it is!

1. Cover a ceramic plate with oil or with some wax paper (7 seconds)
2. Put some almonds on a chopping board and cut them into irregular chunks (15 seconds)
3. Put them in a pan with a similar amount of sugar, a pinch of salt and a bit of cinnamon (5 seconds)
4. Heat the mix up, stirring it with a wooden spoon constantly until the sugar melts and turns into a light brown syrup (1 or 2 minutes)
5. Pour it all onto the plate distributing it around and let it cool down a bit (1 or 2 minutes)
6. Enjoy your lovely and nutritious almond brittle! (about 2 seconds)

More ideas if you can wait a little longer to eat your dessert:

1. Chop the almonds into smaller pieces and when your brittle is done pour it onto home-made popcorn!
2. Cook apples or pears in a little water and a little sugar with some cinnamon. Then serve them with your favorite ice-cream and the almond brittle on top : )
3. Make some home-made granola (toast oats, nuts, raisins and seeds in a big frying pan with salt, honey and coconut for example) and when you’re done mix your super crunchy almond brittle in. Eat it just like that, with yoghurt, with almond milk…
4. Go crazy, experiment!
