Auto pilot

Well the one big hitch in my “gitalong” is my autopilot. I’m waiting to hear if I’m getting one sponsored “Please, Please, please!!!”, but if not I’ve bought a bunch of parts and I’m going to start the process of building one next week.

I’m also building a unique bilge switch. I really hate float switches and I’m building a failsafe dual pressure switch. I’m using 2 pressure switches with ice cube relays which are connected to hoses that will dip into the depth of Splendid’s bilge.  As the hose fills up with water it creates back pressure which will flip an electronic switch the will power the bilge pump. I have a few float switches go out on me and it’s not a good feeling. My new system will have no moving parts or wires in the bilge. All I need to do is keep one of the 2 hoses clean (easy to check) for an operational switch.

I’m also going with a new company for my charging system. I’ve had problems with my alternator charging system in the past and I’m going to try Electromaax (http://www.electromaax.com) this time. I have heard really good things about their alternators & regulators from other “hard core” cruisers.

I had a great dream last night. I was sailing Splendid on a beautiful day, not much else was going on, “perfect”!!!

Peace, Love, and Coconuts.
