Land and Sea

I’m ALIVE!!

As soon as I landed in Ft. Lauderdale I drove out to my boat! My first reaction was “Oh my god what did I do”! I knew the boat was a mess but I was so tired I just wanted to find a place to sleep. You know what they say “no rest for the weary”, translation…, no sleep for Alex Dorsey!!!

For the last few days I’ve been cleaning and organizing. The bimini and dodger was a “Rubik’s cube” but I figured it out after 4 hours. It rained “cats & dogs my second day and I found all the leaks, and there are a bunch! I’ve been scrub, scrub, scrubbing!!!

There is no internet connection at the Glades boat yard, hence the lack of updates, nor is there anything around for miles and miles, just cows.

I’m borrowing my buddy’s car but driving as little as possible due to gas prices. “Boy is it expensive to live here”! I can’t wait to get the boat wet and get back to wind power. I have a bunch of work to do before that happens. I have a few blisters to fix. I have to check all the threw-hulls, change the cutlass bearing, change the zinks, get the motor running and paint the bottom. I’m shooting for two weeks???

After that I need to motor through a canal and a few locks to Ft. Myers (a day), sail around the bottom of Florida and back up to Ft. Lauderdale. After that I need to chug  to my friends house & dock in Stuart. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention my friend Alex, the doctor I met in New Caledonia is coming to join me in a few weeks. In Stuart I’ll be looking at a few months of sanding, painting, installing, etc. I think the reason my website is so successful (hits not money) is that my life is always up-side-down & backwards?

I bought a blackberry but need to get a chip this weekend. Once I get it up and running I should be able to do log updates from my Blackberry.

I’ll write more soon.

I have an awesome new boat…, ship, she’s a palace, what will I do with all the room??

Peace, Love, and “Oh my GOD!!!”

Hanging on by a shoe string.
