So far we have had really nice SE weather at 15 – 20 knots for the whole trip. We just got a forecast indicating the same for the next 3 days, we have been lucky (knock on wood!).
It looks like we will be entering Morton Bay tomorrow night (Wednesday in these parts) and following the big ship channel lights through out the night for a Thursday morning arrival at the Manley boat harbor in Brisbane where we will have to deal with the infamous Australian customs officials. Actually Wojtec has to deal with them : ) They are the worst I’ve ever heard of stripping the boat of all food, demanding new bottom paint (Hazardous removal if it’s bad) and possibly fumigating the boat at $66.00ft! What the hell is that all about (question mark). I’m glad I’m just a passenger. Joshua Slocum said “Australia was the most unfriendly place to visit, and it looks like customs is still holding the torch. Good thing I have so many Aussie friends to know that’s not true.
Landing in Oz is important to me as it marks sailing half way around the world in the past 8 months. It will put me at around 8000 miles in as many months, and roughly 3 months at sea, WAHOOOO, lots of sea to cover.
All is well onboard, Wojtec is in good spirits, and I’m eager to find my next boat, finish my DVD, and reveal a few surprise projects.
Peace, Love, and Australia BABY!!!
