Land and Sea

Hard days

The sea subsided a bit yesterday however the waves are still a good ten feet and the wind is blowing 20-25.  I spend most of the day in bed yesterday as I didn’t feel very well. I managed to drink and eat one of my younger coconuts, as well as a handful of dried fish. The rain continues and my grey universe is dampening my spirits. Nuie is only 180 miles off , if the wind continues I will push on to Tonga which is another 450 miles, I need to make way.

I’m approaching Beverage reef, and Antelope reef which are two hazards out in the middle of nowhere. If the weather was fine I had hoped to stop and snorkel on beverage reef but trying an approach in these conditions would not be a good idea.

If anyone wants a taste of life aboard Namaste, take a thick fish filet and boil it in heavily salted water for 25 minutes. Let it dry in the sun for the afternoon (it will harden) and you will have something to snack on for months to come. It’s good with cold beer on a hot afternoon, like fish jerky. Put enough salt in the water so the fish filet almost wants to float. This is a trick I learned from the Japanese.

My bread is still eatable however I’ve neglected my sprouts which I needed to throw overboard today.

Sorry my mood isn’t higher, but it is what it is.

Peace, Love, and Sunshine
