I don?t know what?s been up with me lately; I?m guessing it?s the sea conditions. After my log yesterday the seas built to really ruin my day. The roll on the boat got fierce, and I found myself over the side, listening to Neal Young?s ?Southern Man?, wishing for an airlift. I really envy the sailors who have never been sea sick although I think they are lying or have never really been to sea.
People have asked me how I could go to sea if I knew there was the potential to get sick, my reply is ?I love sailing more then I hate being sick?. I don?t know if you?ve ever been sea sick, but it really is the worst thing. Today however the seas are flat and I?m sailing along at 2 knots in 5 knots of wind. I made a nice breakfast, some tea, and the migraine that I had all day yesterday is gone. Van Morison is playing on the IPOD, the sun is shining, and it?s a really beautiful day. I?d like more wind but for the moment I?m happy to have the break. This is why I don?t like short passages, it takes me a few days to get acclimated to the boat, but once I do I enjoy the sea. It?s looking like I?m going to have calm conditions for a few days. After I finish my tea I?ll set the drifter and see if I can?t squeeze 3.5 knots out of this breeze. I?d have to say my favorite conditions are 8 knots of wind doing hull speed with my drifter up, it really is a beautiful thing.
I?m going to have a look at the charts today and determine where the international date line is, I think it?s around
Cheers everyone.
Peace, Love, more Peace.
