Land and Sea

I am the sea!

And the sea iz me!

They say “Like attracts like”, “if you lay down with dogs you wake up with fleas”, implying that we become like our surrounding and the people we surround ourselves with. It is surly true. I am quite careful with the company I keep, and I have left many “drinking buddies” in my wake. I just don’t have time for people who drag me down, life is too damn short. Karma is another thing. If you produce good energy, it will surround you and return. I don’t try and seem “above anyone” if anything I try and keep a humble demeanor and a lo-profile. And I try and go out of my way to help people.

I find myself in a symbiotic relationship with the sea. My mood swings with the mood of the sea. If it is confused by storms to the south, so am I. If it is calm and happy, so am I. I feel as if I am in extremely good company. “Live by the sword, die by the sword” right?

My eyes opened just as the first glimmer of light kissed the sky. The sea is calm and I am making 4 knots. I may be loosing it in some people’s eyes; however I would argue that actually “I’m finding it”! The first thing I did this morning is start the day by singing sea shanties (spelling) at the top of my lungs.   I peered outside and decided today is the most beautiful day of my life! How can the sky be so clear, the sea so blue?

My smile was as grand, and expansive as the Pacific itself. I managed to drink my entire cup of coffee staring at the painted morning sky. I am the sea, and the sea is me!

Speaking of karma, I’ve been contacted by a very generous subscriber. I’m receiving a gift from a total stranger. Maybe the world is not lost after all and kindness and peace will prevail? He has sent me an ipod! Actually he sent it to my friend in Tokyo who will bring it to me in a few weeks. In return for the ipod I will be looking for Tiki carvings and Tapa cloth as I travel through the Marquesas. Not a bad deal if you ask me. I’ve wanted an ipod for so long. Even if 20 grand fell in my lap tomorrow I wouldn’t buy one. I would use the money for Namaste and video equipment; I really want an underwater housing. My CD collection has gone to hell as CD media delaminates in this hot and moist environment. Oh 2 have an ipod, I have over 80 gigs of music on my computer.

Today is a good day. I may take a quick swim, not to clean the bottom, but just the prop. I’m sure it is unbalanced by growth and I don’t want to damage my shaft or tranny as I enter Hive Oa. I will surly attach myself with a line.

Peace, Love, and random acts of kindness.

Alex
