Windlass

The windlass is here!!!!

I just picked up my new ABI windlass from the Balboa Yacht Club. I should have it on in the next few days. Allie started making my mast steps today and they should be installed within the week. I’m paying for my mast steps with an old windlass that I never could make work (sea-tiger 555), and my movie collection (About 100 movies), I’ve watched them so many times it doesn’t matter. I have a ton of new (used) books that should keep me entertained for a few months.

I have a call into an agent in the Galapagos to inquire about fees. I think it’s going to be around $400.00. If that’s the case I’m planning on making landfall at wreck bay and taking my 72 hours of provisioning & rest time (free), then heading for the Marquesas or Hawaii. My visa for French Polynesia will be ready on Tuesday morning.

I’m getting antsy. I think this is really going to happen this year…, the South Pacific, WOW! I’m a bit in awe of the situation. I couldn’t sleep much last night and was up studying pilot charts and reading cruising guides. The trade winds are filling in nicely and call me all day. They have been a bit strong lately (25kts) and Namaste looks like a horse chomping at the bit as she tugs at the anchor. I can almost hear he say “Come on, what the hell are you waiting for, tick-tock lets go!!!!!” My reply is simple. “You don’t have to pull up the anchor, I do…, soon baby, soon…”.

I’m really planning on flooding the site with logs & pictures once I leave. My sat phone is acting up though, I hope it holds together.

Cheers everyone.

Peace, Love, and Pacific Coconuts!
