Don took off to another anchorage today. Before he left he gave me a baggie full of fresh scallops, and a really small jig. He said I should fish for the small Jacks that swim around the boat all day, I never thought of eating them. They look like mini tunas, and are under a foot long.
First off I want to say that the local scallops beat the hell out of any shellfish I’ve ever had. I had a few as sashimi, and I fried up the rest with garlic and olive oil for lunch, WOW, really good, and incredibly sweet!
Then I attached the small (tiny) jig to my spinning rod, and caught my first Jack in less than 60 seconds. Within 45 minutes I caught 8 of them. I ate them with Gary and Mavis on plan B for dinner. They were really good, I’m sure I will eat many in the future.
I started the refrigerator today in preparation for my upcoming guest. I haven’t had it on because I’ve been working on the computer (editing video) so much, and have wanted to save the energy. I’m going to try and stock pile a fair ration of fresh fish, and I think cold beer is a must.
I may take off in the morning, or the following morning, I haven’t really made up my mind yet.
I haven’t heard the news for a while but I hope all is well in the world, I’m guessing its not.
Cheers everyone.
Peace, love, and fresh fish!
Alex
