Today I woke up around 4am and popped my head out of the hatch and saw the southern-cross as usual; I often look for it. I could see some lightning to the east.
I don’t know why, but I just woke up in a really good mood today. I cut up a potato and made some home fries & eggs for breakfast. I also had my usual green tea with ginseng. It must be 2, or 3 months now that I quit caffeine, and I’m really happy about it. I know green tea has a little caffeine, but nothing like the triple espressos I used to make 3 times a day.
I had breakfast in the cockpit and watched the light show, I noted it was coming this way and decided to wash the decks if it brought a good amount of fresh water with it. By 8:30 it was pouring and the wind was blowing 35. I was on the deck with a brush and bottle of joy, scrubbing. I heard someone in the distance “DO YOU NEED HELP”? I could Chris popping his head from under his awning. I held up my brush and replied “NO I’M CLEANING THE DECKS”! There was a fair amount of lightning around; I think Chris & Maggie thought I was off my rocker. The rain felt like needles, but Namaste’s decks are nice and clean.
I little later a hungry pelican came to visit. He was kind of dragging one wing, and I think he wasn’t doing so well. I tried to feed him a can of tuna with no luck. He liked the attention and human contact. I pet, and scratched his head; he stayed for an hour or so. A little while later I got a call from Chris on the radio. “There’s a pelican in my cockpit”! He climbed on Contigo. I went over and shot some video and we fed him a can of tuna, it was easier when he let us hold his moth open, he ate it willingly. I think it was just weird for him because it wasn’t a whole fish (weird texture), but he liked it. It seemed to go right through him as he left a nice surprise behind.
Chris just drove by and Pepe (The Pelican) on the bow of his dingy. Chris pushed him off into the water, but he flew back over to Contigo and got in the cockpit again. Maggie doesn’t want pelican poop everywhere but Pepe is pretty darn determine to live on Contigo. It’s funny!
I’m going over to Contigo later for “Movie Night”, I wonder if Pepe will like “Madagascar”.
Peace, Love, & Pelican Poop!
