Land and Sea

Let the adventure begin!

I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t have my doubts. Is my motor okay (30 years old)? Am I a good enough sailor? Do I have enough money ($645.00)? Do I have enough food? Will the sea swallow me and my tiny ship whole? I have excitement and I have fear, but most off all I know I need to do this for me, it’s my destiny.

Who knows? All I know is that tomorrow morning, at first light, the anchor is coming up and I’m setting off on a 4000 mile journey to the Marquesas Islands in French Polynesia. I’m expecting the trip to take around 45 days. I’m not planning on using the motor so it might even take longer.

I’ll try to post something the first few days but I’m not usually feeling that hot, and motivation is lacking onboard Namaste. After 4, or 5 days, I get in the groove, and I’m adapted to life on the sea. I’ll be in the shipping lanes for the first 10 days or so and it will be difficult for me to sleep. Once I pass the Galapagos, I’ll be out of the shipping lanes and have most of the pacific to myself.

If anyone has Single Side band capability on their radios, I’ll be checking in to the Panama Pacific net on 8143 @ 1400 Zulu for the first week or so.

I don’t have that many minutes on my Satellite phone, and I will not be responding to many emails as I need the minutes to post logs. If you have questions, send an instant message from the website (not and email), and I’ll reply within the text of my logs. I’m also a little behind on responding to some emails, sorry about that, I’ve been really busy and will get to them at sea.

Peace, Love, and cross the Pacific!

YEEEEEEEEHHHHHHAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!
