Tranquillo

The rainy season is here.

The roar of howler monkeys can be herd in the hills of the Jungle. The tranquil growl of thunder rolls over Namaste and bathes her decks with fresh water and splashes of light.

“Tranquillo(Tranquil)” is my favorite word in Spanish, and the only way I can describe taking a shower in the rain water of a thunder storm. I miss the sun, but this is the change of the season here. In retrospect I have all the fresh water I need. My clothes are cleaner and I can shower twice a day. For me…, this is really living. The down side is, I’ve found a few new leeks on Namaste, and it’s harder to spot reefs in over cast conditions, oh well.

Some of you guys might remember my friend Eric, and his dog “Salty” on Mololo. I watched Salty for a few days in Port Antonio Jamaica last year while Eric spent some time with a friend. If you check the past logs you should find a picture of Salty, I think I was there in June.

A funny thing happened to me when I took Salty for a walk on the beach yesterday. I was approached by a few monkeys. They were walking upright, and coming to greet me, I think they wanted to make friends; they were just a few feet away. Well, you can just imagine what happened next. Yellow Lab in full sprint for monkeys, the chase is on! The Black & brown monkey next to me broke wind (really loud) as soon as he saw Salty, and sprang for the nearest tree. They proceeded to throw sticks & leaves at Salty as she gave her best effort at Palm tree climbing. As soon as Salty would loose interest and walk away, they would jump out of the trees and try to catch her until Salty turned around and started chasing them again. They would retreat to the trees and the whole thing started over again. This would have been a good bit of video for one of those animal shows. It was one of the funniest things I’d ever seen, I was crying I was laughing so hard, Salty got some good exercise.

I’ll be in the Isla Grande / Isla Linton area for a few more weeks before retreating back to the San Blas Islands.

Well that’s all I can think of for today, send an instant message and say hi.

Find peace, “Tranquillo” is good.
