“You take the blue pill and the story ends. You wake in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill and you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.”
I throw myself out there and don’t mind being judged by my peers, ridiculed, nor am I afraid to make a fool of myself, or shout when I’m angry. I have a voice, and for what ever reason, people who listen to it.
I’ve been thinking of my agenda and what I want from Project BlueSphere going forward. It’s not money, fame, or ego. It’s simple, I want to help people unplug as I always have. I don’t want to fight the system, nor do I want to tear it down. I just want to open a a very small door and let the people who seek freedom walk through it. I will also provide a country on the other side of that door if only it is to live in our hearts. It will be a country governed by the sea, and one where we will not be afraid. Baby steps.
Someone just said he only sails on weekends and sails more than I do. Project BlueSphere is not about sailing and never has been. I’ve sailed more miles than most but its not the point. Project BlueSphere is about one man’s quest for freedom, how he found it, and how he continues to live in it. I wish it to be a road map. Freedom does not come easy or without a fight. Ask my friend Ross who has been in and out of the hospital for years with one simple goal. To buy a small boat and go cruising. He is, and he is a hero to me!
Personally…, for me Project BlueSphere is about being a minimalist, being personally responsible, and taking action for my future. It’s about consuming little, living large, and sharing with my comrades.
Some of you may think I’m “Stuck” in Panama and you are so far from the truth its absurd. I’m exactly where I want to be, and for those of you who have been around for a while I’m sure you can see that.
“I know why you’re here. I know what you’ve been doing, why you hardly sleep, and why night after night you sit by your computer. You’re looking for him. I know because I was once looking for the same thing. And when he found me, he told me I wasn’t really looking for him. I was looking for an answer. It’s the question that drives us. It’s the question that brought you here. You know the question, just as I did…The answer is out there, and it’s looking for you, and it will find you if you want it to.”
I believe my readers are looking for freedom and the truth. Perhaps I’m wrong and your just a bunch of beer swilling arm chair sailors waiting to see me plow across another ocean and write about the sea. But the meat my friends is in-between the lines it’s in the reality. I’ve opened my mouth and yelled, and I will do so more often. I’m not afraid of my readership dwindling, judgment, or a loss in film sales. I just want the truth!
“The Matrix is everywhere, it is all around us. Even now, in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window, or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, or when go to church or when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth”
It is the system that leads us to believe we should work every day until we are 65. It is the system that leads
us to believe we need to pay exorbitant amounts of money for health care and insurance, it is the system that makes you believe it is acceptable to pay tax on everything in our “reality”, it is the system that wants you to believe everyone is out there to hurt you. It is the system that puts mothers in the work place, and it is the system that wants you to believe you are free. The system is control. Freedom my friends is free, just realize it and take it.
I’m a real person, not a TV show, please don’t judge me like one. I cry, I get angry, I love, and I hurt. I’m also in a very different position than most. I’m on the outside looking in. And what I see is not acceptable to me. If I turn my back on my readers, and only write about all the beautiful places I see it would be a great injustice. It would be “fluff”, unreal, and untrue.
If you never question authority, and care only to be a socially, and not personally responsible citizen I don’t think my blogs forward will interest you. Aside from my IRS, sister, and uncle issues I cant figure out simple things like, why does every apple in the supermarket have to have a plastic sticker on it? Why do the supermarkets still give every person who walks threw them fist full’s of disposable plastic bags. And why do most men work all year for a few weeks off?
Maybe together we can figure these things out?

It was JFK’s words that sent shivers down my spine. They are very real words and you should hear them.
Peace, Love, and Change.

Alex,
You and Aki must have had some REAL bad sake! LOL – I just try to live my life in “my” world, pay what I have to pay and be done with it. I vote, do the right thing and live a hard fought comfortable life. I hope you continue to find peace in “your” world. Put your energy in your boat…go find a woman that cant speak English.
P.S. If all else fails…go sailing.
Dave
Dave,
Speaking English good for sure, my bedside Spanish is okay but communicating in detail is important for me. That’s why no Panamanian GF.
We all need to live as we wish, that’s all, and paradise can exist anywhere as long as it is in your heart.

Thought you and your readers would like this link, the rest of the Cato’s web site is something I go to often if I get the political bug. Some of the stuff is really good but there are a few boring things here and there. No matter how boring it is it’s always better than fox news.
Cheers

when you follow the rat in front of you 5 days a week, you sail the hell out of a weekend……when you cruise you spend as long as you want, where ever you want….i cruised, but visitors always had a schedule and we sailed past the best parts……when you haven’t been in a slip or on a trailer for 90 days, well then you will understand…..it is like those around the world regattas, by fiji, half have droped out to actually experience the cultures and new places.
I agreed with most of everything you say ,i fell we are slaves of the system with a few weeks for your self in on year of work. But on the other end wen we go to the store to buy what ever you whant or wen you go to dentist you got to have people working all year around to satisfy our needs.
Imagine not using money anymore, just trade services(we start having this in portugal in small scale) we continue to have to be avalible all year to get all other things needs dayly.
And PLEASEEEEE find peace in your hart again and be in peace with the world even wen you do not like it,actually we are all humans and we all make mistakes, even the system if you folow the history we are a lot better,in 16 ceentury people that did not pay taxes cold be killed in public so eveyone cold see, this way everyone will think twice next time.
Rui from Portugal
p.s sorry about my english

Cruising is about life style, not sailing. You are living your dream, my dream. Those of us in the system, we are just pawns and slaves, to the few who own and run the system. It’s a life style that one day, we find ourselves prisoners of and then we spend the rest of our life’s trying to get out of.
You are on the outside, stay there, don’t turn your world back to into the system, you got what the people who run the system want, power and freedom, yeah power, power to follow your heart when and where you want and freedom to enjoy it. Having your own country forces you to deal with them in a whole other way, it gives them another tool to fuck with you.
I’m planning my escape in four years, hope to see you out there.
Peace, love and coconuts, live by it.

don’t forget the the roman empire crumbled from within as well roman citizens were to busy!! if you could ask any of them do you think your empire will fall and would lead the known world into some dark times??? I think the answer would have been about the same as you are getting here (you are crazy just go with the system it works pay your taxes, so we can spend it on crap) well I guess some romans might have said yes but they were considered crazy. I say to be a citizen of a country that is yours you have to question everything your goverment is doing, freedom is somethign that must fought for, you can’t just let it happen you have to work for it, and once you gain freedom you must work even harder to keep it after all alot of great people have died/dreamed/ and gaving up everything they have ever known to get it. “We the people of the united states ” the Citizens are to control the goverment not the other way, that is what makes the U.S. so great the country belongs to the people the Masses.
I don’t think alot of the U.S. people have had to deal with the goverment like some of us have. paying a speeding tiket or standing in line at the DMV, or just a routine audit, is not what is happing. the goverment has gotten out of conrtol when it thinks it is right and you are wrong (my grandmother says it reminds her of life under german occupation during ww2. so it has gotten out of control when the people working for you have more power, well then that is a problem becasue the term “power” is used in dictatorships can anyone tell me how many times power is used in the consitution??? this contry is young around 230 years we are bound to make misstakes and have groing pains.
funny i have noticed that most U.S. people are good but they really don’t see what is going on, when a over 250,000 homes flood a cable companys phones to complain an outage in under 10 mins but yet don’t say a word when their rights and liberties are striped away!!! (danger will robinson danger) so ask yourself a question will or could the United States fall like the Romans ???? so please like the matrix, it starts with one person to help others find the light. funny alex when you bought splendid you asked a question how far down the rabit hole will this go. ??? well depends on which pill is taken????
Once again a night of “molested” sleep.
I’ve been thinking a lot of wil’s last words at the bottom of the previous blog, about “Hungry” Americans. Can we compare this to the starving people in other parts of the world, no, we may not.
I am often hungry, yet far from starving. After my root canal I was really, REALLY out of money for about 6 weeks before my last charter. I didn’t say anything because as my Uncle, I was too embarrassed and knew I could muddle through it. I should have just had the damn tooth pulled.
As soon as I was able to work and make a few bucks I got rolled by the IRS, and perhaps this is why intense anger finally rose to the surface of my skin?
I dug deep into splendid stores and found I had plenty of rice and beans. That being said I don’t really enjoy eating rice and beans all the time and often skipped meals. I lost some weight (good thing), wasn’t drinking alcohol much (good thing), and moved on on. By no means am I starving or deprived.
There is a big difference between hunger, and starvation neither is positive. Would I say the United States has 37 million starving Americans (although some may be hungry), no. If I’m wrong, once again, please enlighten me.
Can this happen to citizens of the United States in our near future, absolutely, and this also keeps me up at night.
Rome fell from greed, the demand for military supremacy, and decadence. Americans are decadent. We the people consume 25% of the world’s natural resources and only constitute 4.59% of its population.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_energy_resources_and_consumption#By_country
This turns my stomach and my fellow American readers should all be very ashamed of this. If we continue this path, we will fall just as the Romans did. If you love your country (The United States) I say you throw out the TV, or at the very least sit down and make a list and some VERY informed decisions to the programming you let into your lives, and the lives of your children, this goes for video gaming and the news as well. Ride your bike as much as humanly possible. Let the fresh heat of the summer into your homes, and LEARN TO CONSERVE. Americans are super consumers, and it must stop! Recycling is not the answer, responsibility and conservation is. With the absence of the television and the few hours you have at night go into the streets armed with some food, or just the hand of friendship and extend it to a stranger. MAKE OUR COUNTRY BETTER! And when you do it come here and share the experience. I had this idea once, TRAKS (Totally random acts of kindness). Let’s start it today.
Years ago I wrote about being mugged in Colon by a very skinny boy on the dull end of a knife. I produced a much larger knife in one hand and a can of mace in the other. I was angry and ready to fight. The boy looked at me and a number of things went through my head. He was really poor, possibly starving (not hungry and very skinny), and had nothing but a ratty pair of shorts. His eyes were not drugged, and I was fat. He was afraid that I would mace and kill him, and ran away. I don’t believe he was a bad boy, criminal, or anything more than a young man trying to survive.
If my family was hungry and I had no options to feed them, rest assured, I would mug you as well. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I wish I could go back and speak to that young man and offer him my help.
The way we acted after 911 was atrocious. We took the freedom of the American people (Patriot act), told the UN to go fuck them themselves, and went on a killing spree.
This is the same thing we did after Pearl Harbor:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_bombings_of_Hiroshima_and_Nagasaki
Pearl Harbor was a military outpost attacked in a time of war. The Japanese (right or wrongfully) targeted soldiers, and a military installation. In return we dropped two nuclear bombes, and may I add are the only ones to date to detonate these weapons of mass destruction, and targeted two cities filled with innocent civilians. We vaporized approximately 225,000 (a quarter million) infants, mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, grand mothers, and grandfathers.
I used to date, and cared very much for a woman from Nagasaki. When her mother found out she was serious about an American man, she told her daughter that we were a violent people (Americans) and would not accept it.
Since we are talking about history, military supremacy, and freedom let us not forget that between 10 million and 114 million Indians are dead as a direct result of US actions.
wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_Native_Americans_were_killed_by_the_US_government
It is crucial that we take personal responsibility for our past and fully understand the price at which we are giving away our freedom as Americans to our government for the illusion of security.
I am not “bagging” on my country, I just seek the truth.
From the greatest city in the world (NYC), and my home, to the shores of California, I am an American, native, and second generation. And I love my country.
I know most “pay what you have to pay, and are done with it” but perhaps we should demand more?
I have the right to speak, be heard, and demand change. So do you, what will you do about it? If it is just writing words here, reading, fighting, or shouting at me is all you can muster, it may be enough?
Let us think, let us remember, let us learn, and let us grow to be better citizens of the world.
Let us not accept the system that is being pulled over our eyes to blind us from the truth!
Let us be truly free, in our hearts!
Gordok,
Your right, I did get out. I write these words as a free man floating on a sailboat on a beautiful day in Paradise. I didn’t spend my morning fishing on the reef, swimming, or sailing. I spent my morning trying to get my brothers to think, if not just for a moment. And I will make a country, if I am the only citizen I will believe in it and sleep at night with an un molested heart.
Not one more day.
For Chris,
I do not only wish only to point out the negative. Our military and soldiers have freed, protected, and perished defending the innocent. We have accomplished some of the greatest acts of humanity, not to mention the light bulb, computers, and coca-cola (my favorite).
My point is we are human and make mistakes as well as acts of divine grace.
We must be very careful of who we point our fingers at and not become usandthemians.
Violence is not the answer, knowledge and friendship is. Unfortunately sometimes war is necessary but we must be so cautious with this power, and I don’t feel we are being responsible. And that is just my humble opinion.
“Project BlueSphere” is the first interactive, on-line,travel adventure show of its kind. Not only will you have access to “BlueSphereTV,” our broad- band TV show, but you will be able to vote on destinations, communicate with the ship, and navigate your way around the world with me. Whether it’s beautiful sandy beaches, storms, foreign ports, or equipment failures, one thing is for sure, this adventure will be far from boring. Join today and take the adventure of a lifetime.
What you just read is what Project BlueSphere was when it started. Then it changed to buying a larger boat and taking doctors to third world countrties to give assistance to the less fortunate. After that it changed living off the hook and family cruising. Then it became documenting the Kuna and trying to perserve their way of life. After that it was sailing to Columbia, restoring splendid and transiting the Canal on the way to the Galapagos, and now it is forming ones own country and fighting the curupt political system so sailors can live free. What will it be next week?
I understand that mans dreams and plans can change as life evolves around us. Some times we find our selves discovering things that take us on a different path.
I am just a little lost on what this site is going to be about? Do i tune in to discover boat tips and living on the hook? Do i tune in to watch the world being explored ? Perhaps next week it might be about taking teenagers on board to show them the beauty of the sea? I am not sure what to do? Is this now a political site where we share opinions and discuss how to form our own country.
I know Alex that you have changed as you venture through life. It just seems like these changes are from one end of the scale to the other? I am getting concerned about you. I hope i am wrong. Maybe this site is about changing ones focus and switching ones goals every other week? Perhaps i just don’t get it?
Curtis,
It is whatever I choose it to be, if you don’t like it, don’t visit. This is my living room, my life, and you are my guest.
And no, I don’t think you do get it.
You don’t have to tune in at all, and if your offended by me please take advantage of the unsubscribe button, if you have something constructive, to say, say it, if you don’t, don’t. But trying to attack my agenda and imply that I’m not allowed to change my mind, opinions, or viewpoints well, your not really saying anything, are you?
You’ve always got cable right?
If you want me to change my verbage on my main page please feel free to submit something, I should probably update it.
I do like the site. In fact it is the only site i follow on the web. I love the exchange of ideas and expressing ones self. There is nothing wrong with inviting people in to your living room to share thoughts and ideas. It just seems that it is becoming a roller coaster and forever changing from week to week.
When i first tuned into this site years ago it was you that brought my dreams to reality. Your words, adventures and ideas touched me in such a way that it brought me to a place to go after my life long dream to sail and live free. It was because of you that i started my journey of buying a boat, learning to sail and living a simple life. It was because of you and this site that gave me the idea to go after those dreams and not listening to the nay sayers around me.
You see Alex i had the same dream as you did. Since i was 15 years old my dream was to sail the world. It was through this site that I got off my ass and worked fowards a path to accomplishing those dreams.
I just wanted to say that last year every thing i worked for was taken away from me by my so called free country Canada. My boat, home, business and any money i had saved to start my voyage of discovery.
The one thing my country could not take was my dream of living free and cutting the dock lines. So i am very passionate about the comments over these last few weeks.
As i continue to rebuild it is stll this site and you that keep my dream alive. I do realize however that this is not your responsiblily you have to let life take you where it takes you. Perhaps i am being selfish in thinking that this should be a cruising site to help me keep my dream alive. Sorry if i offended you.
Curtis,
You couldn’t offend me if you tried.
I am not a “rational” man I suppose? A friend just gave me some advice regarding my IRS issue and told me:
“Please take the emotion you are feeling in your heart and soul and take that to your head. Make decisions with your head, not your heart. Your heart will betray you”.
Good, solid, rational, advice for a rational guy, but not really for me. My heart is my lamp and has lit my path to the world and makes me who I am. If I was “rational/normal” I would never have done the things I’ve done or loved the ones I’ve loved.
I will always trust my heart and if anything my head has betrayed me as it is easily programmed by “society”. My heart is human instinct and tells me the difference between right and wrong, and lights my path going forward.
I admit my path has been scattered since I lost the girls. My internal compass is cracked and dry without Sam, its just the way it is, however I know I will find my way. I am just a man and my blog my journal. I could easily push a button in windows live writer and not post my blogs. They would just become my journal, however I do enjoy sharing my thoughts no matter how “crazy” or unconventional they are.
Maybe you should check in, in a year or so, maybe I’ll have more of my shit together, maybe not?
Curtis,
Maybe you’re right and I’m not able to offer good cruising advice anymore. May I suggest http://www.sailblogs.com, maybe you will find the inspiration you seek there?
Hey Alex, You have me intrigued with the idea of coming down and providing some slave labour. I have some ideas I would like to run by you. Can you fire me off an email address I don’t have one for you since I broke my facebook chains.
Mike

I’ve been thinking a lot of wil’s last words at the bottom of the previous blog, about “Hungry” Americans. Can we compare this to the starving people in other parts of the world, no, we may not.
You are so absolutely correct Alex!! 100%. The levels of starvation in America are nothing in comparison to other areas in the world. It is just a shame to see such great power in the hands of many yet somehow it gets lost by choices that pay little difference to human kind.
I have read your words from the beginning days of Namaste to where you are today and I would never ask for anything different. Yes we all touch upon political topics now and then but you have always allowed free debate, open dialog and have shown a willingness to learn and an open mind. This site has been a wonderful addition to my life and thanks for opening up and keeping the freedom alive.
What state does your Uncle live in?
Keeping the faith to sail from the shore one day. Wil
alex….having sailed withyou, shared anchorages, the panam canal, and los pearles(remember the storm in ampon?), i can say without a doubt, that you are one of the most unique individuals i have ever met. evolve, but do not change….well do not change much………mavis sends love……………………g

Curtis,
It is not always easy to realize that the things we do and say also have great influence on other people (i.e. Alex helping you keep your dream alive). Perhaps, Alex’s adventures are also inspiring others to buy a larger boat and take doctors to third world countries to give assistance to the less fortunate, family cruising, document the Kuna and try to preserve their way of life, sail to Columbia, restore one’s own boat, transit the Canal to the Galapagos, and form one’s own space or “country.”
However, isn’t it refreshing to read and see Alex, as flighty as he may seem, purely go with what his heart dictates? How Society has “brainwashed” so many in thinking that if we stick to few things and see them through that that is the PROPER and SANE passage through life!!!! Whomever said that that was the way, anyway?
Your story touches my heart as we all go through our struggles for our own freedoms. Keep the faith, the Universe shall surely grant you your wish!
Be always first and foremost true to your heart….your head can always follow and make some sense of it later or never…who really cares?
Fellow Canadian,
Ky
Yet another night of “molested” sleep.
I had a really weird and appropriate dream last night. I was back in the States and went to go buy a motorcycle. I went to a lot where I met this really cool guy restored classic bikes and you could buy mint 60’s and 70’s motorcycles. I found the bike I wanted; it was a Harley with a FLH front end. It was flat black and all the chrome bits had been powder coated flat black as well, it was beautiful, more money than I had, but he lowered the price enough so I could afford it. I spent every last dime I had on it. Basically the same story as when I bought Namaste.
When I had it delivered here to Linton I realized it didn’t have any handlebars and I wasn’t able to ride it. Why would I buy a motorcycle with no handle bars I asked myself? Then I realized they been removed so I couldn’t ride it?
After waking up at 2am my brain went into hyper-dive as usual and I started thinking about Curtis’s comments.
Am I really so off the beaten track that Project BlueSphere isn’t about cruising any more? Should I really send all my readers to other websites for inspiration? Maybe I’m finished with Project BlueSphere and just can’t offer a good service anymore? Maybe I need to move on to a new project like TWOR, or knitting, or something full time?
Let me tell you a story.
My father left when I was 4 years old, he was a real shithead. My mother worked two jobs my whole childhood to make ends meet while she worked on her PHD. Once she got it she graduated University summa cum laude, she was an amazing and intelligent women. She died at 42 when I was just 20.
She was born in the Ukraine. My grandmother was a famous opera singer who sang all over Europe, and General Patten had a thing for her. He personally helped my grandmother escape the Soviet Union with her family. My Grandfather (Russian) was a forester. The Nazi troops detained him and demanded he help them with logistics in the mountains of Ukraine. He would not and was sent to Siberia where he was executed. He was my mother’s father; she always said I had his spirit.
Once my family escaped to France my grandmother met another man (John), and that is where my mother grew up, in Paris. When she was 13 they were sponsored and moved to the United Stated. John was a good man and fell in love with my grandmother and her two children. (Halyna (My mom), and her brother Ihor), they had another child together Alex, who was the one thrown out of his home into a winters street in New Jersey.
John’s dream was to get to the United States with his new family, and he did. He worked his entire life at RCA to pay off 71 Davenport Street in Somerville N.J. of which was stolen by my government, it breaks my heart, and makes me angry!
When I was about 9 years old I was sitting in a lunch room in a public school in New York. I was a quiet kid who kept to himself. I opened my Scooby doo lunchbox and pulled out a sandwich, it was a tongue sandwich. When the other kids found out what it was they made fun of me; I thought tongue sandwiches were normal? “What country are you from” they asked? “Ukraine and Russia” I replied. They all started laughing at me calling me a “communist”. The biggest of the kids (Elliott) filled his spork with mashed potatoes and gravy and fluck it in my face “communist” he shouted. I jumped over the table and beat the living shit out of him. His nose was bleeding and I just kept pounding away until the teachers pulled me off.
From that day forward I was pronounced a “problem” child. My childhood was during the cold war between America and Russia. I proudly let the other kids know of my heritage. Needless to say I was in and out of schools and was in fights every week, I got good at it. It was really hard on my mother, and looking back I don’t think I was a good son. I wish I could go back in time and change it for her sake.
I’ve been fighting for my rights for a hell of a long time. And I feel for the kids of Middle Eastern decent in our schools today, it must be hard on them.
Have I lost my focus to Project BlueSphere, absolutely not! As I said before, this is not about sailing it is about being a free American man in the world, and traveling in peace.
When I walked to the ATM in Panama City last week the IRS reached across Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama to give me a solid firm bitch-slap, call me a criminal, and tried to strike fear into my heart about possibly loosing my home and freedom over a fictitious $12,000. Not to mention calling me a “Hardship case”.
I guess I felt like that little boy who got a face full of mashed potatoes.
My words over the last week have been about demanding my freedom and not taking “no” for an answer. This is what Project BlueSphere is all about at its very core. And I want you guys to understand it.
Not one of my readers has got rid of their TV, kind of bums me out. Books are so good and the extra time you would have would bring you so much closer to your goals and freedom. The first frontier we must conquer in the battle for freedom is the one in our minds. We must not fill our heads with garbage, false reality, and advertisements. Our minds are sacred ground; respect it, as well as the minds of your children.
If my words, or pointing out the reality of American history offends you I’m sorry, don’t return. If you unsubscribe you will never get another news letter again, or hear word one from me in your future.
I am not irresponsible, I am not any sort of criminal, and I do not want to fear the people in place that are to protect my rights as an American citizen, and I do not owe anything to anyone except my friends Roger ($50.00), and Roman ($200.00). I don’t have any sort of credit because I believe credit is irresponsible and we should live within our means.
I have a lawyer friend who has set my heart a bit at ease. I’m going to give him a power of attorney and he will protect me in a system that I obviously don’t know how to protect myself from.
However I will fight with my words, start my own country if I feel like it, and will do so until I don’t fear loosing my home and freedom to an American agency that seems hell bent of fucking every American citizen I know.
Slap me and I will repay you 10 fold. If I deserve it I will thank you for setting me straight.
I didn’t deserve it.
My fight is with the pen, as an adult I’ve learned physical violence just hurts the ones you Love and propagates more violence. I learned from my childhood.
Please comment more, spill your hearts, feel, and understand we need to fix this. Get off your ass and make a difference! Throw out the television; feed a “Hungry” American, study charts, restore an old boat, read books. Make it your personal responsibility to demand your rights. Protect your children from the television and video games. And when a policeman harasses you for money, ask him to do it with respect and a “yes sir” and remind him he is your servant. Don’t just pay your fines; take them to court even though it’s a pain in the ass.
Never settle, and question authority at every corner!

Bro, you know we love you but tis time to wave the Bs flag. Didnt you go to the Free clinic when you were in the states? How about all thoughs dvd’s you have on board? Your always trying to tell people how to live there lifes but do you follow your owne advice? What I’m trying to say is step back and get some perspective.
Chuck,
Are you serious? My home is in jepordy here, BS flag?
Your damn right I went to a free clinic in florida. I couldnt afford to see a doctor. And when I worked for MScore last year I paid taxes for the privalage, with every check I earned. I believe I also wrote about seeing the doctor in Key West. I also paid taxes on every meal, time I went to the market, and bought shit at west marine.
As far as DVD’s are you talking about my films? Films Documentaries, arent fox news or telivision my friend, and I sit in my hammok at night i dont really watch films since the girls left, we had family movie nights and watched child approprate material with Guin.
I also just said in a log that I went to see a film (green hornet in three-d) in the theater last week. So what is your point? You want to trade up from a 50′ to an 80′ boat to go cruising on so you can have crew to take care of your kids?
Fly your own BS flag Chuck, I wont get into why, your a friend. And I dont tell people how to live, you dont like my words, unsubscribe.
I’m holding your tape measure hostage! When you coming this way? Luv you bro.
P.s. nobody’s taking your house ( your out of the country )
The best way to influence people is by example. You inspired lots of folks by telling your story aboard Namaste. You seem happy and empowered by the freedom she gave you. You had what people wanted, you were living the dream.
Since Splendid we see someone who re-entered the system, someone who spends time adding “things” to the boat, working to earn money to do “things” to the boat. No different than what most dreamers do, work on an endless list of “things”.
I find you can’t change people’s way of life by telling them what to do or how to do it. I believe you can change more minds by doing than by telling. We don’t, by nature, like to be told what to do, but when we see someone like you on Namaste, following your dream, it inspires us to do, it shows us that it can be done, it gives us hope.
Watching you with Splendid is in many ways seeing ourselves struggling to get where we want to be.
I still follow your blog every day, there is still a lot I can learn from your writings but I can’t say that you inspire me like the Project Bluesphere of Namaste did.
There are many ways to change the world, inspiration is, in my opinion, the most powerful one. You inspire me by your actions, I will follow, you tell me what to do I will fight you.
Starting a new country and fighting the system will inspire some people, maybe not Project Bluesphere followers. A lot of us have fought the system and now just want out. We are ants fighting elephants and we are getting crushed. Living a life that inspires others to follow will live the elephants to their own, and without the ants the elephants can’t survive.
Just my opinion, to me, Namaste equaled freedom, Splendid equals the struggle to find freedom.
Find your freedom.

OK Dude, I have read this and as i said it’s a great reed. Now get your head out of your ass. As for you being lost in some way’s yes and in some way’s no. You have hit a time in your life that’s not conducive to the Blue Sphere lifestyle. Yes you should let us( your long time reader’s) know what’s going on with you, but you should also help us learn the Blue Sphere way. You started this and you need to finish it whenever that is.
I, being lost after a deviorce came across your web site 2 years ago and was so taken with it I now live on that boat. You see you do make a difference in lives, That being said you have a responsability to your readers. I for one would be very disapoint’ed in you for centering you energy’s on the tax thing,it clouds the mind. Yes I too have my tax pain and X wife.
I want you to see the glass as half full, how can you use this to your advantig? Be a part of the system and let it work for you, please. I would rather see my tax dollors go to you so you can show me how to be free rather then a dead bet corp type. This is where i want my tax dollor’s to go, for my binnafit.
Peace love and lemon’s OK I need spell check
Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying you are telling me what to do, I don’t believe you are, you are just not inspiring me like you use to.
Gordo
Gordo,
Thanks for the words.
Namaste was an amazing experience for me but I realized I was limited to being a single hander on her. I wanted a family and the room to become more self-sufficient. I knew this would take a lot of hard work (years) but I wanted to move up to a bigger boat while I was young enough and had the strength to make it happen.
The 15k I spent on Splendid was the best money I ever spent. I now have the freedom to make wine (takes a lot of room) have the tools I want, and the possibility of having a family once again. I will cruise like I did on Namaste again, I just need to finish my investment of time and sweat since I don’t have the money to pay people to do this for me. As long as the IRS doesn’t throw me in the sea like my uncle.
Once I get her into maintenance mode, as opposed to restoration mode my life will be free to sail the seas at my leisure, and I’m not that far now. When that happens Project BlueSphere will shift gears and many of my readers will get what they desire. I do not have the resources to sail full time as I wish. I have to work very hard for it and thus Project BlueSphere shifts gears often. Times like now I can’t even afford to buy the materials I want to get some work done, and unfortunately I’m going to turn down my job in April.
For me the threat from the IRS is quite serious. They could seize my home and I don’t take this lightly. My definition of “freedom” is probably very different than most. I want 100% of it and will live a life of poverty with no air-conditioning and comforts of the modern world to get it. It’s a very hot 91 degrees in the cabin now and will go for a swim after I’m done typing these words. Some nights it too hot to sleep and I lay in my hammock gazing at the stars. In the end, its all positive, brings me closer to nature, and rewards me with clarity and perspective. I don’t like living in synthetic, climate controlled environments.
It is not my intention to produce an interactive “adventure” anymore but to document my travels. I need to rewrite the text on my main page. My next film will also be very different than the previous two.
It is, what it is, and I will continue to speak my mind, even if all my readers unsubscribe.
I’m not into producing fluffy entertainment, and making people happy is not my agenda.
Jimmy Buffet once said he lost all the friends he needed loosing. I have lost many friends from my old life because they have nothing in common with me any more, nor can see the point in my life.
I will be true to my heart.
Cheers mate.

I knew you would take it the wrong way, leslie said keep quiet but in the end you need friends who will give you their opinions, good or bad. Too many on here follow you blindly and hang on your every word. Easy to get lost that way! Yes, the system is broken, we all know it. But there are some things that work – free clinics if you can’t afford to pay, search and rescue if you need help at sea ( EPERB ), the internet (yes tax dollars paid for the R & D to make this possible) My point is it’s not all bad. It’s time to stop playing the victim and find the positive that’s all around you. And no I will not unsubscribe so there!!! :-) LOL.
you wont lose this reader alex, i happen to be a citizen of this rat race and agree with you 100 percent. i go to work every day and pay a mortgage for something i probably will never own. i live at poverty level but get no tax breaks like big businesses do. what i do have is a payed 4 40 year old 26 foot westerly sailboat i plan to live on for a while in the keys and bahamas. your dvds and this website have been of great help and inspiration so please keep it up.
Alex
I have been reading over you’re the blogs you have written over the last 3 weeks or so and have been trying to find where it was that you became so determined to demand your freedom. I am not a psychiatrist or psychologist so please take my words as just one guy’s perspective on things.
Over the last few years you have shared many personal details of your life with your readers. You have let us into the every changing world of Alex Dorsey. You have shared with us your personal struggles as well as thoughts of your love one’s. Each time you have done this your dreams have never waivered.
When you first shared the story of your uncle having everything he had worked for being taken away by an uncaring US government you didn’t stop and fight the government. You continued on with exploring the world.
When the police over stepped their authority and beat your sister. You never stopped every thing and started fighting the police authority. You continued to fulfill your dream in life.
When you where sitting on a beach in California with a gun to your head you never pulled the trigger. Your desire to find freedom (as the DVD say ) and to sail parts of the globe kept you going.
One thing that did stop you from finding that freedom and sailing parts of the globe was not the over powering, uncaring ruthless American authorities. It was the loss of Sam and Guin.
Reading back in your blogs you said in one of them that you had worked out a plan to restore Splendid doing some back packer charters and the job in the US. You also mentioned at that time you where finally over Sam and Guin. I found it quite perplexing when I read that line.
Now I am sitting here over 6000 miles away so please take my comments as just one guy’s perspective but I have been where you are. I lost the most precious woman I had ever met. I was literally in the fetal position when things ended. It took me over 3 years to get over her and what she had done. It was devastating and even to this day 9 years later I still think about her when I hear a song or look at a sunset.
In this mans humble opinion I think you are no where near moving on from Sam and Guin. These two women touched you in ways where other woman could only come close.
This was not just another relationship where after it ends you just move on in life and rebuild in two or three months. This is the same as losing some one due to a death. It can take years because they are no longer in your life.
In fact in some ways them leaving makes it worse then death because they are out there smiling, laughing and crying and you are not there to share it with them.
There is nothing wrong in taking time and some times lots of time to get over this.
Ask your self this question? If you where still with Sam and all this IRS stuff happened. What would the two of you have done? She would have probably stood beside you offering sound advice and encouragement and between the two of you supporting one another you would have worked thru it and moved on together.
You have suffered a great loss Alex and it is going to take time to be well again.
I would try to keep busy. Spear a fish and keep my mind clear and free of negative thoughts.
Easier said then done I know.
Chuck,
I never said there was no good in the system, but we are in a place when the good is FAR outweighed the bad. The “free” clinics are also not “free” and is still much more expensive than seeing a doctor here.
My doctor here just charged me $15.00 for an office visit. I paid $80.00 for a full blood work and urinalyses (at the lab), and another $127.00 for medication to lower my triglyceride count which I will be on for three months. I don’t mind paying for health care when it is affordable and available to the people.
When Guinevere got the tip of her finger caught in a door we had to go to three hospitals and take an ambulance ride. The cost for one evening (not a stay in the hospital) was over $10,000.00, not to mention another $600 for antibiotics. Lets not get started talking about healthcare and how ridiculous it is in the United States, it is downright shameful.
You make a good salary as a pilot, what happens if you get laid off, and are at the mercy of your system to protect you and your family, who I happen to be quite fond of? Tell Leslie hi and you never have to keep your mouth shut on my website.
I have no way to pay a CPA for helping me, luckily I have friends that are willing to lend a hand of friendship, and I believe in friends helping friends a hell of a lot more than relying on the “system” to help me. My uncle scoured the system for help to keep his home, and it put him in the street. My sister scoured the system for justice, and nothing will be done!
Also I got sick in Fort Myers and tried to go to a “free” clinic. I was not allowed as I could not show how much I made on a previous years tax return “ but I’ve been out of the country for 6 years”, all I got was an “I’m sorry sir”.
And Jim, I’m not going to pull my “head out of my ass” till I’m damn good and ready. Your right, I do have a responsibility to my readers, and if I didn’t I’d just shove some pretty pictures down your throat, make you happy, and give you images of paradise.
Plenty of sailing stuff to read on the internet I’ll find you some links.
I knew you would take it the wrong way, leslie said keep quiet but in the end you need friends who will give you their opinions, good or bad. WOW,Curtis is dead on…… Sorry you took me the wrong way Alix but as you I say what’s on my mind. Funny thing about having your head up your ass, sooner or later even you can’t stand the smell. If you want me to go away i will, i don’t need you to find me web site’s with pics. I can do for myself, been doing for 51 years and learning every day. I would hope your not taking this out on your readers as it is appearing, if your venting just say it.People are here for you but are you here for yourself?
peace love and lemons
Curtis,
The moment I walked to a cash machine in Panama city and found a zero balance was where I decided I needed to stand up for my freedom, it was the last straw for me.
I called my bank and was informed the IRS had sized my funds. They reached into my pocket and took my money. I do not find this acceptable, you might? I am also in a position where my home may be seized. It probably will not be, but the fact that they have the power to do such a thing to a man who lives on about 8k a year scares the shit out of me.
And I did try to help my uncle. I looked for free legal help (I had no funds of my own at the time) He had not told anyone about it for about 6 years and on paper the fines were approaching the value of the house. Yes he fucked up, but I don’t think anyone has the right to take a mans home. And the reality that we really don’t own anything is unsettling to me. And my ½ sister’s mother was helping her deal with the legal stuff, I drove up to Atlanta to offer my support.
You’re absolutely right about Sam.
Loosing Sam and Guin has been the single most difficult thing I have ever had to deal with. We didn’t separate over a loss of love on anyone’s part, and recently I had to try to explain to Guin why she couldn’t come to the San Blas, it shattered me. Her birthday is coming up on the 14th and I know I need to try and hold it together for the phone call. She still wants to be here. Sam and I separated over circumstance and the fact that I had been more than frustrated with Sam’s being caught in the legal aspects of a marriage, it wore me down, it’s complicated. I made decisions that I deeply regret and so are the actions that eventually tear a good relationship apart. I take full responsibility. I was wrong about so many things.
I could sail the world 100 times over and never find a replacement for Sam, nor can I imagine a better partner. She was the best woman I’ve ever known. Guin was my rudder, and Sam my internal compass, I love them dearly. I really wanted to raise Guin free in the world and that was also the wish of her mother.
Moving forward it is very difficult. I’ve only recently picked up Splendid’s anchor for a charter. I’ve had a rough time of it and your right, it wouldn’t be so hard with Sam at my side but it is what it is. I fucked up, its not the first time, and surly not the last!
I don’t really know why I share the personal aspects of my life. It all happened after that night on a Malibu beach. I just picked up a camera and started recording my thoughts.
Remember when you were a kid and started masturbating, we all did : ) Remember the shame you felt, and not being able to talk to anyone about it? I guess I want my life to be an open book so other men might understand more about their own.
You can tell me I have my head in my ass, tell me to fly a BS flag, or call me an idiot, it doesn’t bother me. I know I have helped many people by sharing my thoughts and dreams and that is all I really care about. People have sent me emails thanking me and telling me I saved their lives with hope, and provided them with an out.
Trust me, I make next to nothing on the website and invest copious amount of energy into it. It’s also not about being “known” as I am an introvert and like my privacy more than anything.
I’m just a simple man trying to find his way in the world and hope I can help others through my words, that’s it. Lately I’m dealing with the reality that I may not be able to do this anymore as I’ve lost the peace in my heart and I’m disparately trying to find it again.
I hope you understand?
True words Alex, more men understand then you will ever know. I still feel the pain but not as much anymore. This took time, like Curtis told you. This is a day to look at the glass half full, even for 1 second at a time if that’s what it take’s. I had to read that 3 times, The head up your ass is not to offend but to maybe reed what i just read. I’ll be silent now
peace love and lemons
Jim,
Never be silent, not here.
And Curtis, when I wrote the words that “I was over her” I was hoping that if I wrote it, it would become true, sadly it could not be farther from the truth. I’ve managed to stop some very destructive drinking. The doctor told me this is what threw my blood all out of whack and why my triglycerides are so high.
I still lay in the hammock every night looking at the stars for answers, often through many tears.
Again, perhaps my honesty and willingness to bare my weaknesses and make a fool of myself will help other men understand their own lives.
I remember once losing my sunglasses, I’m a skier, I can’t go out without my sunglasses, it hurts my eyes. I spent more than an hour looking for them, couldn’t find them. eventually I gave up and borrowed my wife’s since she wasn’t there’. When I put them on I felt something on my head and there were my glasses, on my head the whole time. The moral of the story, you’ll find what you’re looking for, which sometimes is under your nose or on your head, in my case, when you stop looking. Sam and Guin are gone, as hard as it may be, you must move on and don’t look back, love and happiness will show when you least expect it.
We all feel your pain, most of us have gone through something similar in our life’s, I came closer to ending it all many years back, I’m glad I didn’t. I have a wonderful wife and daughter and my life is a happy one, even without cruising, which is my life dream. Soon my girl will head out to college and I can fulfill my dream.
It’s all good.
The IRS is a pain but it will also pass, listen to the advise and look at the glass half full. Someone said, and I’m sorry can’t remember who, “the scariest things in my life never happened”. Sometimes we worry too much about nothing. In the end it all works out.
Restoring Splendid is great, just don’t get caught out in the “I need this or that thing”.
Hang in there man, we all love you and want to see you back!
Like I said before, FIND YOUR FREEDOM !

Like I said before, FIND YOUR FREEDOM !
Gordo
If you truly think you have freedom right now, you are very wrong. Freedom is not a geographic place, it is a place found in your heart and mind. You don’t have it right now.
You are right when you say you are troubled and have restless sleep, and I hope you find freedom from that soon.
To quote a friend “Sail far and live slowly”, dont forget about the Sail part. :) Remember sailing took you there previously. It helped you find the place inside yourself that made you truly free.
Anyway, best of luck. I will be unsubscribing. I am busy sailing far and living slowly. :) Hope to see you at that place sometime in the future.
Alix i got the dishes washed and put away. Study for a big test and enjoy the brain fry. now on to pick up some things at the store,,,,,,,,in other words keeping things in motion. I don’t think about things that way. We all will be ok,,there’s plenty of things that need to be fixed on your boat just make that list and start.
Thanks for the advice and you guys are right. I’m in a bad place and not doing so well. I’m having a bit of a melt down.
This IRS thing really pushed me over the edge. I’m getting a power of attorney to my lawyer friend and need to let go for a while.
I have an obligation to help a friend with his boat in Panama on the 17th to the 19th. After that I’m going to the San Blas and unwind, maybe for a few months, or however long it takes.
I need o put my life in perspective and find some peace. I’m going to pass on my job in April and just go shoot fish for a while. I don’t have so many positive things to say and need to take a break, sorry for being such a bear. I’m not going to worry about paint or getting ready to cross an ocean. I just need to do some more healing, yoga, spear fishing, and reading.
Once again I apologize for stirring up a hornets nest; it’s not really my way. I have said things that although I believe to be true, are not conducing to the pursuit of happiness and freedom. I’ve thought of erasing my last few blogs but that’s not right either. I’ve acted inappropriately and need to check out for a while and find my center.
I’m sorry guys, I’ll return when I have something positive to offer.
Peace.
Thank you, Alex for your ever constant honesty.
I began reading this blog because It gave me inspiration, it challenged me, as it still does.
So many of us live vicariously through you in our various levels of pursuing our dreams. Sometimes this leads to expecting, and expectation is an emotion that can only leave us empty. Living in the moment is the only place we can find peace, and freedom. I think we all need to remember that, and if in some moments you need to shake your fist at the world, I am behind you 100%. This world, our American system, is not all lollipops and gumdrops. It is the faults of our system that have led most of us to follow you. The breakdown of family values, the hamster on a wheel work ethic, the misplacement of true experience with following other’s lives on the latest sitcom or reality tv series.
We all want the same thing. Expectation is hard to avoid. You have been an escape to so many. We want you to sail far, we want you to meet exotic woman, we want you, like a good book to transport us out of the lives we are so stuck in. But you are not fiction, you are a man, just as prone to falling as the rest of us, but if it were not for falling occasionally would we ever be able to rise up and show what we are truly made of.
This site was incepted from just such a fall and, man, have you risen. I would rather compare it to a winding road(sure the straight paths get us quicker from A to B, but it is in the curves and turns where the real meat is found) than a roller coaster. Do we forget that you’ve been doing this for upwards of a decade? Maybe some would like to for they are still just as far from their dreams.
You are more free than most, but this does not mean you should accept what is given to you. As a long time reader, I realize it is this very tenacity that has inspired so many and gotten you so far. Act, though, Alex, do not react. Do not be baited into defense of thoughts you have more than the right to express. You can sail AND fight the good fight. Boat tips and constructive discussion. For many years you kept talk of policy out of your logs for the sake of keeping a pristine sailing site, but was it not a healthy dissention that allowed you to cut those dock lines in the first place. Let us realize, that to question the powers that be is our obligation as seekers of freedom. That is how this beautiful messed up country began.
We all occasionally go too far in defense, or in some of my fellow reader’s cases, defensiveness, of ideals. Only in your case, these words are written, documented forever, to be critiqued as we all feel fit. I for one, again, thank you for your honesty, and for your fearless laying out of your heart and soul. Go to the San Blas, find your balance once again, incorporate this new more openly political Alex into the gentle giant wandering sailor we all know and love. You CAN accentuate the positive while proactively working to eradicate the negative. Myself and many others will be here when you return.
