A change in the wind!

porvaneer

Here is Splendid as she sits off of the island of PorVaneer in the San Blas.

I almost didn’t make my charter. I ran around like a madman all day yesterday and when I got home I pulled the Yamaha 9.9 and put it in the cockpit and put the dink on deck. I got so winded I almost passed out and started a lo grade fever. I called the guys who are coming for a charter and told them I have to make the call when I get up at 4am. They were bummed but understood.

When I got up I felt better but all the medication gives me a hell of a headache.

I do this thing when I’m about to go somewhere. I just drink my coffee and watch the sunrise, it gives me perspective, it was a good sunrise.

Anyway I decided it was time to get the hell out of Linton sick or not.

As I was hauling anchor a boat came by with Lisa, the most famous of all Kuna mola makers. I’ve known her since the last time I was here. She needed a ride back home and I told her to climb aboard. We had an interesting conversation about what is going on with the Kuna culture, kids on drugs and the appearance of televisions in the last 5 years. I told her I was interested to make a documentary on the Kuna and she invited me to visit her in rio cedra (an island) and take as much video as I want. She is the secretary to the chief of bout 1000 Kuna (Rio Cedra).

We had head winds and had to motor the day, it took about 9 hours to get to Porvaneer. After dropping Lisa off I decided to spend my last 10 bucks on a coke and chicken dinner as I wont be so broke in the morning. After Dinner I met Sam (guy) and Destiny, two travelers from the states, they asked me if I knew anyone who could sail them around for a few days. Ron and Kathi had already told me it was cool to bring other people so my charter just doubled in Plata ($) and people. We are all going to see the San Blas and sail back to Linton on the 14th.

I’ve explained to everyone I need to take it easy and everyone understands.

Anyway, I feel the wind has changed in my life. When I get back I’ll have a few bucks for all my medical stuff and I may get the satee reupholstered for my next charter. I’m also going to get my guitar and bicycle fixed.

Even though I feel like crap, life is pretty damn good :)

I may not blog till I get back but will probably make a comment or two.

Peace, Love, and changes in the wind!

  4. Was wondering if you pulled the tooth but got an implant would the implant save your jaw structure? There is a semi famous lil town called Tamarindo in Costa that has a place that does implants. The place seems pretty safe to leave a boat but I do not actually know anyone that has done so. I dont want to steer you wrong in anyway so do your research!

  5. im really surprised……u said that the sailboat sank about 2 months ago ….my question….why isnt it completely stripped of anything of value…..are there really that few people with the means and know how to remove all the great stuff…………..??????
