Man, I just don’t know where to begin. I’ve been so busy I haven’t had a moment to relax or write.
As you guys know dad is moving to Panama with Carla, Nacho and I.
I found a nice beach rental for him in Panama. In a few weeks he will be sitting on a beach smelling the sea air, enjoying life, and living close to family. When Carla and I arrived here he was alone, scared, and ready to pass. Now he is excited and raring to go on a new adventure, “priceless”!
Over the past month he had a nasty bout with pneumonia and we thought we were going to lose him, he was in and out of the hospital. His doctor has okayed him for travel and agrees that we should focus our time on “quality, and not quantity of life”. I couldn’t agree more, and that is the first order of business on Carla’s and my agendas.
I miss Panama, I’ve been here far too long. The matrix wears me low as everything is such an expensive ordeal. There are also so many damn rules and the television (I don’t watch it) is everywhere and poisonous. I’ve got my dad off of fox news and he is much happier.
On a positive note. I was on the phone with social security for my dad and asked them to look up my account. I’ve almost worked enough in my life for retirement. I’ll be turning 50 next month and if I can manage to make another $2,400 of taxable income in the next 12 years I will be eligible for social security benefits when I turn 62. Sounds like travel money for Carla and I to sail around with in our older years, woot, something to actually look forward to?
On a not so nice note I’ve burned more fossil-fuel in the last 3 months than I have in the last 10 years. I want to get back to my day-to-day micro footprint, healthy living, and general order of peace and quiet. Things are so fast in the states, people are in such a rush it makes me tired. The slow, laid-back pace of Latin America fits me far better.
I must say it’s nice to have my wife and Nacho back. Nacho loves to play with dad and hearing his laughter is quite rewarding when they play fight.
Eleanor will be on the hard and I will finish my trip home in November. I really hope Todd can join me once again, he has become a good friend and valuable crew member. This time with my father however is taking priority to my travels and pushing my delivery to Panama was a necessity.
I cant wait to be on the reef shooting fish once again, soon. Soon I will be back in my Paradise and sharing it with Carla and my father. My focus will revert back to my script and the production of “The Minimalist Sailor”.
Life is an adventure. Even though I’m not sailing, I’m enjoying life to the fullest!
Sail far and live slowly.
