I’m glad Ryan is blogging about boat projects as they are so unimportant to me at the moment. I’ll get back to that in a few weeks when I get back to New York.
Having my father (Joe) visit for the last two weeks has been a wonderful experience. For the first time in my life we really got along.
We are both very different men than we were 12 years ago. When I went to knock on his door
2 months ago I didn’t know if he was alive, and when I found out he was, I just wanted to make amends. Now I feel as if I have a father again, not to mention a friend.
We spent the last two weeks living on the boat talking, laughing, crying, eating, swimming, and playing with Nacho. We also went out to eat a few times, and went to Isla Linton to play with the monkeys.
We both made a conscious effort to make our relationship work. We opened up and were completely honest with each other. The magical thing that happened is we both took the time to understand and enjoy each other’s company. He really Loves Carla too, I know he Loves her cookies :)
Joe is going to join me for my trip down the ICW from Virginia to Florida, should be a really great time :) I feel safe in saying we both feel we have some lost time to make up for.
Carla and I are about to have our first week alone together in 5 months. I don’t really know how everything got so complicated in my life?
Moving into Eleanor and delivering her down here is a big push but what a prize. I can’t wait for Carla to see her, she’s so excited. I’m also really excited about sailing our new beloved Trinka around the area, it’s such a great little sailboat.
I’m going to focus on relaxing now as I’m going to try and fly back to the
states in about 3 weeks. I just want to enjoy the sea, Splendid, Nacho, my wife, and our simple and peaceful life for the moment.
Cheers everyone.
Sail far and live slowly.
