So I’m taking a leek at the Balboa Yacht Club in Panama city this morning and this is the sign that was printed and taped to the wall in front of me and the urinal. It gave me a good laugh.
Obviously the staff is doing maintenance on the 21st but I didn’t really understand the rest. It would have made more sense if they just published it in Spanish. I’m sure they used an online “translator” to try and get their message across.
It seemed apropos to the discussions going on at Project BlueSphere.com lately. ![]()
Sometimes we are fighting to say the same thing but when we try and put it into a context that other people may understand, the message gets totally wacked.
As you know I’m helping my buddy Roger Olson (hell of a sailor) with his haul out. Roger is the author of “Plot your course to Adventure, how to become a successful cruiser” which is available on Amazon, or you can buy it at www.plotyourcoursetoadventure.com .
Its a really Good book. Roger also used to own the Sam L. Morse company which built the famous Bristol Channel cutters, and in my humble opinion the best small cruising boat ever built.
Today we installed a PYI dripless shaft packing in his new 1976 Cal –46. It was a bear of a job as we had to remove the prop, pull the shaft back, and take off the flexible coupling for the install. It all worked but was a good days work.
Something else major has happened in my life. I’m deep in Love with Alex, well actually Alexseal (http://www.alexseal.com/en/) . Roger is painting his boat with Alex seal, and WOW is it a good paint. The only draw back is it is like $350.00 A GALLON!
I’m ending up doing my job on the Ship in April. I sent in an email last week trying to get out of the job but they had already purchased my flight and if I didn’t do It I’d really burn them and that just isn’t my style. The good news is I’ll have some money to spend on really nice paint :)
Well I must say I hope many of my readers are not too stirred up. Life is too short to get mad?
I’m back to Splendid on Monday. I’m looking forward to being back home :)
Peace, Love, and Coconuts.
Alex
