Racor filter

Well I’ve been trying to figure out why my engine has been hunting (for an RPM) lately and I found the reason. I over tightened the lid to my racor filter and cracked it at some point, the fuel system is sucking small bits of air. I ordered a new lid ($24.00) and slathered silicone on the top of the existing one as a temporary fix.

It’s 4:40 am and my ears are killing me! I’m off to see the doctor or a dentist this morning. I fear I need to start another run of antibiotics as something is really going on in my head besides the usual insanity. I’m getting a bit dizzy, nauseous, coupled with bad headaches, sounds like an infection to me? I was hoping my immune system would take care of itself but it doesn’t seem to be doing its job. I hate, I hate, I hate, being sick! When I get back from the charter I’ll have a few bucks and I’m going to see an ear, nose, and thought specialist, and get to the bottom of this. The tooth I had the root canal is a bit soar and I have a funny feeling I’m going to loose it?

I’ve also been looking for a weather window to get to the San Blas but the wind and seas have been howling!  You can see here we have 11-12 foot seas:

I had a rough night last night as a French boat was up and loud at midnight and they had three, million watt spotlights out checking out the anchorage and Splendid. I assumed they were dragging or something. Well they did the same thing this morning at about 4:15. Everyone screaming at each other and everyone seemed to have their own million candle power light, and as a result everyone on their boat blind. A lot of mayhem on their boat, the captain obviously not in control of his ship/t. It reminded me of a three stooges episode. They were all panicked like a hurricane was approaching or something when we just have a steady 15-20 from the ENE (trade winds).

I guess you need to have a certain disposition for this kind of lifestyle.

Awake all night I got inspired to do a video on anchors and anchoring. The next video will be on boats, then one on anchoring, general boat disciplines, and courtesy. It is such a big bay here I couldn’t figure out why the French boat was having so many problems, and why they had to be so close to me and the other boats? Even if their anchor was under sized they could have anchored out and put out a 10-1 scope.

Well I’m having a strong espresso and need to get ready for the bus to Colon :(

  1. Maybe the French have a lack of expereance they didn’t know quite what to do.
Good luck with the doc. and get better.
Still snowing here in Mass. What ever happened to globel warming I’m freezing my butt of.

  2. Hey Alex

The low was -22 here in Denver yesterday and the high was -2, so I think those global warming freaks are
just reincarnated hippies. Good luck with the ear thing, as my cousin used to work for a dive shop and of course, he dove alot; one time he couldn’t compensate his internal pressure and he blew out his ear drum-so be careful!

  3. You know what,,,,,,,,,,,it doesn’t take much of this frigid cold we’re all having in the states, to give us the idea Alex has a “better idea”…………..we all need to get off our butts and join him in Paradise………..peace/love/coconuts/and all,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
