marooned in Indian beach!

Well I must say I’m happy I “bit the bullet” and renewed my SeaTow for the year.

Sam and I were sitting in the cockpit motoring down the ICW when I smelled exhaust in the cockpit. When I smell exhaust in the cockpit it is a telltale sign that it is start time to cut the engine and sail as the wind is behind me. Well I looked up at the windex and saw that the wind was indeed still ahead of us at about 15 knots…, ‘strange’?

Well when I opened the hatch to the engine room I found the problem. The exhaust elbow was in two pieces and exhaust and colling water were flowing into the engine compartment. I cut the engine, dropped the hook, and called seatow. They brought us to a marina where ‘Fasaga” is resting.

Sam and I are enjoying the time alone as Guin went to her Dad’s for a week. It is so strange without the little one around. We are sitting in a little cafe, sipping coffee, eating quiche, and enjoying the morning.

I’ll be calling around Monday morning looking for parts (Yanmar) and hopefully be off in a few more days.

My buddy Chuck is sailing for Puerto Rico tomorrow. It’s his first big trip and he is really excited. I’ll get a link to his spot and post it.

Cheers all.

Happy Halloween.
