Project BlueSphere

Land and Sea

delivery

Sam, Guin and I showed up at the boat I’m delivering last night around 10:00 pm. It is a really nice hunter 380 with generator and heat, good for this time of year. We managed to figure out the television/satellite system and we watched a family movie before bed. The owner is showing up this morning and Sam and Guin will be driving back to Jersey and coming back to Splendid when I’m done working. I cant wait till I can start chartering, I really hate leaving these girls.

We have about a day sail to get to Norfolk and start our trip down the ICW. The owner and his buddy will be joining me. It’s wet and cold out this morning and I’m sure my fowlies will get good use. I have to remember to get some green tea this morning so I can make batches for warmth.

Anyway, I need to sit down and make up some routes, check weather and so on.

Cheers.

Sail far and live slowly.

  1. Ahhhh… A Hunter 380. Now that’s nice little vessel. She’ll treat you good and keep you comfy. Mines doing fine right now. Still looking for a good deal on a Vagabond 47. Found one in Green Turtle Cay that’s looking pretty promising, we’ll see. In any case amigo. Enjoy the ride and don’t stop until the temp is 82 degrees. Put that cold behind you.

  2. Capt Paul,

It is a nice little boat. Are you looking for your Vagabond for charter or cruising?

  3. have a safe trip down—-it is really miserable here but some of us are not able to get away so we do what we can to make it bareable

A thermos full of tea. Stays piping hot all day. The white tea is tasty as well. I was looking at the latest Boat US rag. Great article about boat repo auction sites. Anyone looking to move the dream up a bit should check it out. Stay safe brother. Peace.

    Greetings Alex,

well done on continuing with the Bluesphere project and the website. I’ve been following your progress for a couple of yrs now and I recall a few brief exchanges we had when you were down our way in the Sth Pacific.

At that time I think you raised the topic to transporting medical services amongst the islands by way of the yacht and it further encouraged me to pursue this mission … kind of having a purpose in paradise

I’ve just been away 4 months transporting medical teams around the remote islands of Vanuatu using the 53 foot steel cutter I own jointly with my brother – truly a wonderful place if ever there was.

If you get time you might be interested in the website we built and I must say, your endeavours were again something of an inspiration to me.

  6. Hey Alex,
I’ve been on the boat you are currently on. I believe it says Whitefish, Montana on it. It belongs to our son, Marty. I’ll be keeping in touch online to see how the trip is going. We live in Montana near Glacier Park and the last thing anyone would be doing up here this time of year would be sailing, so we’re envious.
Prayers for a safe and enjoyable trip and we’ll be checking the blog daily.

  7. Alex,

Just checked the “SPOT” so I could see where you guys are. I’m fairly new to all of this but I’m finding my way around and learning.

  9. Good morning,
Hope all is going well with the trip. From our information it looks like the weather is just as Joanne stated, chilly and damp. We’ve been tracking you on an hourly basis. Hopefully you’ll get into some warm sunny weather soon!!

  14. Good morning,

Looks like you guys are making progress. Hope the weather is clearing up and warming up a bit. We have a beautiful day here in the mountains. I would be interested in knowing what types of wildlife you’ve seen so far.
Have you seen anyone sitting on their front porches a “pickin and grinning”?
Hope things are going well. This is really a fun site. Both of us are enjoying being able to watch the trip progress.
Take care, be safe, and have fun, in that order!!!!!!!!!!
    Happy sailing,
    Marty’s folks
