I moved the engine kill and ignition off the dash to maximize room for the new instraments. I have a buddy coming on the 15th with some goodies for Splendid. The mold really sets off my asthma and he’s bringing a few solar vents to help with the ventilation. Ventilation is sooooo bloody important here. Not much wind, lots of moisture :(

Carla is going back to Patagonia on the 8th to visit family for 3 weeks. She has become a real ninja with the sewing machine. She is gearing up to start doing small canvas jobs for other boats. I’m not saying it because she’s my girlfriend, but she is REALLY good with canvas!

I would have liked to have had an engine exhaust temperature sensor, and a head temp sensor. We wound up repowering – mostly because I dreaded seeing what decades of raw water cooling had done to the internals of the engine before we got it.

In retrospect, I probably could have cleaned it with acid and kept it going , but the reduced water flow and melting mufflers – it seemed time to bite the bullet. Now the engine is getting shoehorned into an old truck by some Haitian kids I gave it to… recycling at its best!

Carla and I had our Brazilian friends from Brava over for dinner last night. Carla made Gnocci (spelling) from scratch. Really nice evening. They will be heading across the Pacific as well next year.
