Especially at $1000/month! I bought my boat for $12,500, owner-financed at $250/month. This put an extra $750/month in the owners pocket as he kept it at a dock. About a year later he told me that if I could pay off his loan on the boat all at once he would let me have it for that amount. I got a $5,000 loan from my bank and paid it off, so the purchase price came down to only $9,000!

Click on my name to go to the FB Album for the boat. It’s a 1974 Cal Cruising 35 with all the bells and whistles!

The sink is welded seamlessly into the counter-top, the icebox lid sticks up a bit and has a big cutting-board surface on it to minimize the scratches to the counter top- something found on damned near every boat anyway.

Visiting my “website” will bring you to the Facebook photo album for my boat. The only thing I’d change is a deeper sink, which may happen eventually…

If I could focus my money towards a boat vrs leting it dissapatye into the universe every month i would do it.

Isaac, i dont think you can spray epoxy paint (thick)? use a 2 part poly (for car is fine) since it is for sale make it as nice of a finish as you can.

I have decided to finish some projects here on land that are keeping me bogged down. First on the list is finishing my 10′ livingston. I got it from a neighbor when he moved and have since then had it titled, and replaced the rotted transom, along with some extra glass work. I want to paint it so it will look nice, and so that someone might buy it. Question; I have a paint gun, should I spray it, or roll it? Can I spray epoxy paint through my gun? If I spray it what type of thinner should I keep handy to clean my spray gun out with? I want to use an epoxy resin paint so that it will have that self leveling shine of fresh glass resin wax. Since I dont have much experience in finishing glass work, does any ideas or advise? Brand or method? Thanks Isaac.

I too am slowly working towards purchasing my blue water cruiser and sailing south. I have already started to pay off debt and should be debt free in about 12 months. My question is should i get another loan and purchase a boat move on board and have it payed for in 24 months or should i continue to pay rent at $1000 per month and wait until i have saved enough money to buy a boat loan free? I know how you feel about credit but do you think there is an exception in this case?

Isaac, I did get the T3i and really love it, I’ve already started production on my next film. I got an external timer yesterday and going to try my first timelapse shot of a sunset & clouds if all goes well with the weather tonight.. Welcome my friend. Please feel free to ask questions here, we are a large community of like minded individuals and many people including myself are eager to help someone getting started out.

Cheers.

In Feb or Mar I too will be looking for a boat. Good luck in your search. Maybe we can get together once I get home from this trip.

Yes, Alex has an enviable lifestyle….several of us on this website are working toward that goal.

Wow. I really dig your videos and your lifestyle. I live up here in the Puget Sound area in Washington. I am going to community college, and getting pretty restless. I have been patroling craigslist sailboats seriously for about a month. Kind of getting a feel for what kind of boat I can afford , and what kind of price range the type of boat I want is going for in this area. I am hoping to find a 30 foot sailboat that I can sail and prepare over the next few years, before setting out for the deep blue ocean. One thing that I like about boating is just how plentifull the ocean is, and how free it can make you feel. I would like to feel a bit more free than I do, especially with all of the crazy socio-economic crap happening. You have a inspiring story. Also I wanted to know if you ever got your cannon 3ti camera. If so, does it work as well as you hoped?
Keep us posted, Isaac
