Will water fill the sink up, via the drain, on a tack, this is common on some of the Seawinds.

Minor – Side Decks are too small. No easy engine access. Anchor rodes chafe.

Cheers,

–Eric

I’ve been living on my Allied Mistress MK III ketch for three years and cruising Central and South America for one year now. I also moderate the Allied Boat Owners yahoo forum. If I can answer any questions for Jamie about these old boats I’d be more than happy to help. Allied built great, rugged boats, but they’ve got a few known problems.

How am I supposed to demonstrate the fine features of Spot to da’ family over here without your page? We are buying the parents one for Xmas so we can keep tabs on them while their out spending the chldren’s inheritance….

Last I knew it was moved into the Crystal River on the NW coast of FL and listed at $3,000. The engine supposedly runs great.
I looked at it when it was in the Gulfport Municipal Marina in the fall of ’08.
It’ll need new sails and a bit of deck replaced, but since it’s a teak-over-plywood deck it shouldn’t be that hard to epoxy a new section of deck in.

The hull is double-layer of mahogany planking hot-molded with resorcinol glue, which all looked clear and rot-free.

I didn’t like the interior layout (like a Contessa 26), so I kept looking.

you may already know these sites but…
here is a good site to search craigslist listings: tinyurl.com/clsearch

in that price range, ebay may be your best bet. I’ve seen some incredible deals lately, its killing me :)
and sailingtexas.com is the best site for current, private owner listings.
