I am heading back down there on Sunday for 2 weeks to tackle some boat projects. Now this weather is worrying me… but where I am if the boat were to get wiped out it would mean all of downtown Jacksonville was also wiped out. I hope things are safe, but no way to ever really know.

My wife and 2 kids (10 and 6) will be living aboard and full time cruising starting as soon as I can get some major projects on the boat completed. I am going to be living aboard full time until those projects are done. I am not sure how far north of Jacksonville you guys are now, but if your still close and if I can afford you I am looking for some help in getting some of this stuff done.

Storm W is great with weather, he is retired USCG.

I started worrying last week that you might get caught up in a system. with the exception of one computer models, the rest of the runs are all showing a certain path and strength. All are in ageement that this system will form. The NHC looks for the models to be in agreement. Even with this distance it has obviously caught the attention of the NHC. Allready storm chasers are flying into PR.

During Andrew, some friends (father and son) of are took there new (to them) sailboat out to sea. They had been working for almost two years. Of course no one had ANY idea the strength of what was to become Hurricane Andrew. They were so worried that there boat had no insurance. They both died. If I remember, the son was found a little bit after the storm, and the father was found 12 years later in some under growth.

If the storm does develop, find a hurricane hole………..and go to a friends home to wait out the storm

the storm is projecting to N. Florida or North of here. That’s why I don’t want to make any northing. Splendid is also tied up on 4 sides and secure if need be. It is a 10 day forecast which doesn’t mean much, but it’s all we have to go on. Did I say “I think the best thing to do is move”?

there’s no way i will be able to afford a dock, and was just wondering if anyone knows if there is a safe anchorage anywhere around there. i love being on the hook, but don’t like other boats draggin’ into me.

back to sanding and brightwork.
…and coffee!
