Re: Video issues

The problem is most likely in the latest version of adobe flash player and particularly in the browser plugin. It would happen on any computer you have because it has been out for a while and you have likely upgraded by now.

Unfortunately a lot of websites require you to upgrade. I choose to downgrade to version 9 and just stop visiting websites that force me to upgrade.

fortunately alex's site does not force me to upgrade but, the videos do not play very well at all, so the only way I can watch them is to download them to my computer.

Alex,

please, go back to using youtube :) They will always remain backwards compatible (at least longer than anybody else will) and still keep up to date with the latest features, they have to because of their massive userbase.

Either that, or find a different method of streaming that does not involve adobe and their heartless forced upgrades :)     I have no intentions of buying a new computer just so I can watch videos when I know darn well streaming media has worked perfectly for the last 2 years since I've owned this computer.

DOWN WITH ADOBE!!! :D

Re: Video issues

Hmm.  Looks like something has gone wrong on the BlueSphere TV page.  I'll check this out and get things operational again.

Re: Video issues

David,

I'm using Safari on an older g4 mac (2x 550mhz). I've also used firefox with identical results. (yes I do the flash removal and install properly)

Flash is just too bloated for me since 10 came out. Actually, I think the bloat is in the server side of flash 10, since while I had 10 installed it played "old" movies fine, it was all the new movies (since the serverside upgrades) that I began having problems them. Since I went back to flash 9, no problems other than forced upgrades and the occasional videos that don't play very well.

This happened on every website that serves flash video (that I visit). So far, youtube is one of the very few sites left that I can still watch video without any issues. As long as the website doesn't force me to upgrade I'm fine, IF the video doesn't play well (like here, but also happens on other sites for certain videos) I can still download the movie to my computer and watch it in VLC or quicktime with flash codec just fine.

I'll upgrade to a newer computer whenever I finally switch to a laptop, but for now, this computer can do anything I want it to, except watch flash 10 movies :)

Thanks for looking into it.

Modified By dnice on 8/3/2009 12:23:30 PM)

I thought I should mention, The bluesphere TV videos play fine for me until log8 and 9. So its not the player or the features. It would have to be in the conversion or something like that.

But Like I said before, I'm ok with downloading them from now on, just don't force me to upgrade my flash plugin and I'll be happy and continue to watch :)

thanks again.
