A few years back, when I was a motorboater, fisherman, I towed in a boat from 12 miles out.  He was stranded and the marina would have charged him a fortune.  It took a few hours but hey, we met a new friend and he gave us a bottle of his wine and a promise to do the same for someone else if the chance ever came up.
